Get to know the people behind Anchor Bay Veterinary Center

Dr. M.S. Zaffer

(DVM, MSc Hons)

Dr. Zaffer brings over 25 years of experience in small animal emergency and general practice. Having owned and worked at a couple of Small Animal after-hours emergency clinics, he has a wealth of knowledge and experience that he loves to share and help educate clients. Dr. Zaffer enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, especially in outdoor activities such as soccer. Dr. Zaffer also has a rescue cat named Simon.

Anchor Bay is committed to our core philosophy as we offer humane and compassionate service to people and their pets, observing the highest standards of care at a reasonable cost to the community.

As part of this core philosophy, we will look for ways to bring continued improvements aimed at providing for the needs of our customers and their beloved pets. Our highly qualified, dedicated, and hard-working staff makes every effort to take care of you and your pets at all times.

Crystal Vogler

Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)

Crystal graduated from Baker College’s Veterinary Technician program in 2015 with an associate’s degree in applied science. Crystal has been with Anchor Bay Veterinary Center since 2012 and has worked in the field since 2001. She is married and has two sons, Brandon and Bradley. Her pets include a black lab named Moose, a German Shepherd named Lexi, and two cats, Peanut and Turk. She enjoys the outdoors, camping, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

Angela Pozsgay

Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)

Angela graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science in 2013. Angela is also in the position of Office Manager, having to do various other duties. She had volunteered at Anchor Bay Veterinary Center in 2012 and while attending college. Angela loves working with rescues and fosters whenever possible. Animals are her passion. Angela is now married as of 2018 and has two children, a daughter, Ellie, and a son, Jack. Their pets consist of six cats, Baloo, King Louie, Izzy, Chazzie, Wanda, and Koda, and two large dogs, Gus and Ranger.

Jessica Linkous

Receptionist

Jessica came to Anchor Bay Veterinary Center in 2021. Jessica attended Macomb Community College and graduated in 2021 with an associate degree. She loves to sing and often does karaoke. She loves helping clients and getting to know all about their pets. Jessica does not have any pets at this time. However, her family has had various cats and dogs all her life.

Jennifer Bertrand

Veterinary Technician (VT)

Jennifer attended Baker College’s Veterinary Technician program. Jennifer joined Anchor Bay Veterinary Center in 2012. She has worked in the field since 2005. Jennifer is married, with husband Joe, daughter Lexi, and son Joe-B. The pets in her family are two cats, Martha and Macey, and three labs, yellow lab Vinny, black lab Luke, and chocolate lab Tanner. She loves spending time with the family, mostly doing anything outdoors, camping, swimming, and gardening. When asked why Jennifer chose to work with animals, she stated, “I chose this field because I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Animals have unconditional love unlike anything else in the world.”

Erica Evans

Veterinary Technician (VT)

Erica attended Baker College’s Veterinary Technician program from 2005 to 2007. She has over 15 years in this career field. She has been with Anchor Bay Veterinary Center since 2007, until it closed, and then returned when it went under new management in 2012 and remains here to this day. Erica also works as the Human Resource Manager, sharing the responsibilities that go along with a variety of duties. She is married and is very involved with her family, husband Mark, daughter Brooklynn, and son Shane. They are involved in sports that the children participate in. Their family pets consist of three dogs: a chocolate lab named Larkin, a golden retriever named Oakley, and the newest member, a chocolate lab named Harper.

Jennifer Smith

Receptionist / Customer Care

Jennifer came to Anchor Bay Veterinary Center in 2018. Jennifer has 15-plus years of experience in the veterinary field, having held different positions from reception to treatment technician. Jennifer is married and has five children, three beautiful stepdaughters and two sons. She loves spending time with family, as they are her main focus, and spending time with friends. The pets they have consist of two dogs, Max and Loulou.

Laura Owens

Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)

Laura graduated from Macomb Community College in 2009, earning her associate’s degree in veterinary medicine. Laura came to Anchor Bay Veterinary Center in 2021. She has worked in the field for 26 years. She has a daughter, Alyssa. Her pets include a dog named Angel, two cats, Vader and Leia, two guinea pigs, Cheech and Chong, a rabbit named Dumpling, a Leopard Gecko named Salem and a bearded dragon named Gerard. She enjoys cooking and interior design.

Jamie Jo Constantineau

Approved Veterinary Assistant (AVA)

Jamie Jo Constantineau graduated from Ross Medical Education Center and has also passed her AVA (Approved Veterinary Assistant) test. Before becoming a Veterinary Assistant, she worked for 17 years in human medicine in hospice care. She loves taking care of people but decided to finally follow her true passion, taking care of animals. She has been married for over 6 years and has 3 wonderful children, plus 2 fur babies of her own.

Janae Davis

Groomer

Janae has over 14 years of grooming experience. She has mastered handling mischievous pets with a touch of humor and patience. She specializes in transforming bad behavior into good manners. Equipped with the right equipment and skills to create a fun and positive experience for every furry friend. Well-versed in the art of sedation grooming, ensuring safety and comfort at all times. Committed to making every grooming session an enjoyable and memorable one for pets and their loving owners. Ready to bring smiles and wagging tails to all.

Katie Atherton

Veterinary Assistant (VA)

Katie attended St. Clair Community College, graduating in 2000. Katie came to work at Anchor Bay Veterinary Center in 2022. Katie has been active in the animal field since a very young age. She attended dog shows as well as participated in helping in dog training. She has worked in a pet store, doggie daycare, and kennel help. She is now working with us as a Veterinary Assistant. Katie enjoys spending time with family and friends, the outdoors, and sports. She has adopted two dogs, Finny and Teak.

Anastasia Phelps

Receptionist / Customer Care

Anastasia came to Anchor Bay Veterinary Center in 2023. This is her first time working in the veterinary field. Anastasia has become very passionate about working here and is eager to learn anything and everything the field offers. She has grown up with pets her whole life, with dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, chickens, and ducks. She has found her passion here in helping and caring for animals. Anastasia has said that it is truly a blessing to call helping all the animals she comes into contact with her job. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, travel, and outdoor activities. Her pets include a small dog named Nevada and two cats named Harlow and Haddon.

Angela Barlow

Receptionist / Customer Care

Angela came to Anchor Bay Veterinary Center in May of 2022. Angela is attending Madonna University, earning her bachelor’s in Animal Science with a minor in Biology and a career focus in Zoology. In her free time, she and her three children, Dakota, Aiden, and Miranda, love to travel and go camping, sightseeing, deep sea fishing, and visiting historical locations. She has always had a love for animals. She has owned a variety of pets ranging from a Doberman Pinscher named Atlas, a French Bulldog named Zayka, a poodle mix named Maggie, an Umbrella Cockatoo named Baby, a Citron Cockatoo named Tango, and three cats named Fernando, Callie, and Cannoli.
